A bed of waves

I sleep out at sea
The waves rock my bed
My wood boat is where
I lay my head
Through the deck window
The weary sun sinks
Seagulls still circle
The stars wink, they blink
I wait for my dreams
While fish flit deep
The swans tuck their heads
Crabs scuttle and creep
I hear water lapping
My thoughts are so quiet
Slumber is coming
I'm a whale rider
We leap and we spray
Through the bluest blue
I cling to his back
He brings me to you
And when I wake
The big beast has left
In my hand a barnacle
From his vast, wet chest
My wood boat and I
Greet the new day
I climb up on deck
To watch the waves play
When I'm back on land
I still feel the waves
If I close my eyes
It's the magic i save
