I Need a Camel

Lucy is a cool cat
I got her to catch farmyard rats
She isn't really into that
She lounges on the sun-warm mat
Hector is a rooster, you know
I got him so he would crow
To wake us each day with his show
But back to bed is where he goes
My little lamb grew into a ewe
I thought she'd follow me to school
There's not one walk she's willing to do
Although strolling together could be cool
Don't get me started on our fancy pigs
They don't root, they rock. They love to sing.
They can harmonise to anything
They're always practicing for a gig
Sven is our stubborn duck
He doesn't quack, he'd rather cluck
You wont find him in wet pond muck
He chases hens — without luck
Daisy is a mighty horse
She's fjord stock from the Norse
I thought I'd ride her, of course
Nope, she rules the farm by force
This farm is dysfunctional
No one answers my feeding call
No one invited me to the barnyard ball
I'm done! I'm fed up with them all!
The cat doesn't hunt, the rooster oversleeps
I have a weirdly wayward sheep
My mean mare won't share her feet
I'm leaving, the land is theirs to keep!
I think I really need a camel…
Imagine how far we would travel
A one kid caravan, beast reliable
A hump for my pillow come nightfall
Yes, a camel would be quite delightful.
