The mermaid and the octopus

The mermaid and the octopus were a darling pair

She braided his tentacles, he plaited her lustrous hair

They danced in seaweed forests, they knew how to spin

She was the most graceful creature he ever saw swim

They lived in coral castles, they travelled shore to shore

Their adventures never ended, they lived to love, to explore

She didn't sing about princes, when she perched upon the rocks

Her true love lived in the ocean, and neither of them could walk
